#projectnursery Part Two!

It has been far too long my friends!  I have been a busy bee.  Since The Sickness subsided around the 5 month mark, I got busy on the nursery, baby showers, planning, parenting classes, etc.

I wanted to share the nursery progress with you.  Not 100% done but about 99% there.  That is until all of my showers are over and I have to find a place to put all the presies.

The curtains are up!  They were a pain to hang but the Fella pulled it off like a champ.

We still need to make some cute tie-backs and steam the fabric.  Here is the changing table area....still need a changing pad.

A few weeks ago, my amazing in-laws took us to one of our favorite places, San Antonio, and we did a little shopping for the baby.

Pomps got her this sweet little chair just like the one I had when I was little.  I have a special plan for this...

The Fella and I both love the story of the Alamo and we were happy to take baby girl on her first trip there..

Live from Dallas...it's The Beatles!!!

NYE was a great night for the Fella and I.  We spent it at a fundraising event for a foundation, the Michael Gilles Purgason Foundation, which is very near and dear to us.  And we were surrounded by people we truly love.  Also.....there was a Beatles cover band!!!!!!  Y'all probably don't know this, but I am a Beatles freak!!!!  I danced and danced all night.

So basically, it was a perfect evening and there isn't much more to the story.  Here are a few pics to illustrate the good time.

New Years Day was spent on the couch reading, watching football, eating and enjoying a little down time.

Harvest Time

Just another Manic Monday....

15 minutes late for work, forgot my IPhone at home, forgot to make something for the potluck today which led to a quick trip to the store, etc, etc.  Monday stuff.

I swear every time I start to feel a little grown up and like I am getting it together, the universe gives me a day like today to remind me that I am a 30 year- 5 year old and don't have any of my stuff together.

Speaking of crazy 5 year olds, the Fella and I had my twin 5 year old nephews all weekend.  On Saturday we also had my 6 year old nephew for a few hours.  We took them to see Thor in 3D. 

It was great but holy energy Batman.  As in I have none and they have massive quantities.  To just run for no reason again.  No lion chasing you.  No cheesecake in front of you.  No marathon to train for.  Just running to feel your legs moving and to rejoice in the fact that you are able to do so.  Real 5 year olds have it together way more than I ever will. 

Back to that feeling grown-up thing, after we took the twins home on Sunday we came home and did a few hours of yard work.  We had not planned it all.  The weather was just so glorious that we gravitated outdoors and just began to work.  It is an amazing feeling to put love into and to improve something you love, like your home. 

I was weeding and realized that I had fallen behind on acorn patrol.  Acorns sprout little trees easily if not kept an eye on.  They grow fast and deep.  It is really hard to get them out due to the little nut still being attached as they grow.  But look how cool they look when you pull them out intact.

I am so weird, I know, but I love roots.  I think they are so intricately beautiful.

Look at the pods that fell from my wisteria. 

How alien are these?  They grow underneath and hang there for months. They are huge and hard as rocks.  I couldn't even cut one open to see what was inside. They are toxic to pups so I have to remove them once they fall.  They were a beautiful light green this summer.

Our two bushes have minds of their own and would take over the neighborhood if I let them.

With temperatures finally out of the 80's and all the rain we have been getting, my herb/veggie garden is exploding.

The most amazing surprise was our jalapeno tree.  We got one pepper all summer and now there are about 25 jalapenos and jalapeno buds.

We made some great nachos and guac with a few of them last night.  Holy cow, they were HOT!!

Relaxing weekend

Top of the Mornin' to Ya!

It is Monday but I am choosing to ignore that fact and focus on what a fun weekend we had.

We drove out to my in-laws ranch.  Along the way we stopped at the Dublin Bottling Works to show our support by buying a case of their Root Beer because they can no longer sell their Dr. Pepper.  For those of you who don't know about that whole ordeal, check it out here.

True Texans here, Dublin Root Beer, Shiner Bock Beer and and a grill in the back of your pick-up.  Keepin' it classy.

My MIL is the BEST cook. We were greeted with spaghetti and meatballs from scratch and a delicious apple pie. 

Saturday we visited our favorite Mexican food place in Mason, TX, Santos, which also happens to be next door to the winery where we had a little tasting and enjoyed their famous winearitas. Mason is the cutest little town with lots of thrift stores and antique stores, so we sipped and shopped and enjoyed the most amazing weather and blue sky.

 

We took the fur babies, along with my in-laws' babies, on long walks around the property.

 

Not the kind of herd you would expect to see on a Texas ranch, but cute none the less.

Four-wheeling, visiting and eating. It was a fun, laid-back weekend.  I feel revitalized and happy.
