The Peanut's Pad

Previously, I introduced y'all to my Peanut.  This poor kid was drug to flea markets and thrift stores her ENTIRE life.  She never complained when she was little.  All she needed was a stroller to sit in, french fries to eat and a promise of a new Beanie Baby at the end of the day.

Well is seems that 22 years of watching her grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great aunt and mother decorate their homes, over and over, has rubbed off on her.  This year is her first year to live alone and she styled her apartment all on her own as well.

The Peanut's pad is this month's Home I Love.

Her wall collage is one of my favorites I have seen.  It is special to me also because of the collected memories we share that I see hanging there...

Here is her sweet little dining area...she picked all of the colors and fabrics on her own and I was so impressed with her choices.

 

She has gotten really good a refinishing furniture...she just did this cute little dresser last week.

 

I love how colorful, young and fresh her spaced has turned out...just like her.

Christmas Catch Up

Hello my lovelies.  It has been a long time.....I shouldn't have left you...without a dope beat to step to, step to.

Ah Timbaland.

Anyway, how were your holiday festivities?!  Mine started off great and then hit a rough patch when I got sick on Christmas day.  I had zero energy the rest of my vacation at the ranch.  Boo.

But our family Christmas on the Saturday before Christmas was fantastic!  I love seeing my cousins and their beautiful kids.  Christmas should be enjoyed in a house full of children.  They make everything better.

My niece, Peanut, and I put together a photo-booth for everyone to enjoy.  Here are a few of my fav pictures from the booth.

Fun times.  Other than that we ate, opened presents, sang, celebrated a birthday, went to a Christmas light show and watched old home movies.  It was a wonderful time.

We Southern women like our sweets....especially when it is possum pie, banana puddin', peach cobbler and pecan pie.

My parents hosted the party this year at their lake house.  They did a beautiful job getting the house ready.  I wish I had more pictures of the decor but I didn't have time.  Here is a shot of my favorite area though...

A few of my mother's nutcrackers...just a few, and all of the pictures of her kids and grandkids with Santa over the years.  Too cute.

It was a gloomy day outside but it could have been worse.  It was originally supposed to rain the entire day so we canceled the huge bounce house we were renting.  But it didn't rain much and we were able to enjoy the lake.  We needed the rain anyway...look how low the water is.  Ah Texas drought.

And I got to see my bunny.

All in all, the kids had fun which made it fun for all of us...

Christmas at the ranch

I mentioned in this previous post what fun we have at my in-laws ranch in Texas Hill country.  We will be spending Christmas Eve and morning with my family at my parent's lake house and then will head to the ranch that afternoon to spend the remainder of the week.

Fun stuff like this happens...

After the perfect mesquite tree is chosen, the fellas head off to saw it down...

We sing carols, have cookie contests, eat lots of goodness, open many presents, play many games and share many hugs and lots of love.

I cannot wait!!

Turkey Round-Up

Hello my lovelies!  Long time no see.  At least it feels that way. We made it home from Colorado last night and I am exhausted.

Today shall be a Thanksgiving photo dump.  This is the easiest way to recap the weekend's festivities.

We packed up the car on Wednesday evening and hit the road, taking only the essentials...

We got in about 3am.  The Fella passed out as soon as we got in but as usual I couldn't unwind and stayed up to watch the last half of Gone With the Wind on AMC, which I do every year.

The next day we woke to the smell of an amazing feast being prepared and a few hours later we had this before us...

The herd got in on the action too....

 

The rest of the day and half of Friday were spent stuffing ourselves, watching football, shopping and going to the movies.  Did y'all see Catching Fire???  Wasn't it so good?  Friday night we spent the evening hanging out with the Fella's friends, drinking and playing Just Dance on the Wii with their kids.  It was a blast!

Saturday morning we got up early and headed to Golden, CO for the day.  My best friend is moving there so we wanted to check out the adorable town and the property where she and her man are building their home.  It was a great time.

Saturday night we met up in Denver with some more friends of mine from college and his from high school for dinner, drinks and karaoke...always a good time.

Sunday consisted of sleeping and watching football at my in-laws' house.  Monday we hit the road early and got home in the early evening, laid on the couch and hardly moved. 

It was a jam packed weekend and we loved every minute if it!!  We are so thankful for friends and family to share the holidays with.
