Homes I Love: Rustic Modernism

As I mentioned on Monday in this post, this past Saturday night I went to the open house of my friend Sarah and her husband's new home.

Sarah is a jewelry and home textile designer. She is an artist. I worship everything she makes. I have four of her beautiful pillows in my home and a few pairs of her earrings.

She and her husband recently built their dream home and let me tell you...it is a dream. I wasn't able to get as many pictures as I wanted because the house was packed with folks that came out to help them celebrate. Next month Houzz is doing a spread on her new digs. I will update y'all to when that happens so you can get a real good look at this fantastic home. Here are the few pics I did take....and believe me when I say that they do not do the home justice.

Here is the beautiful living room...

The guest room, which I ADORE...

And her fab master bedroom and her own closet...

The details around the home are what really blew me away but I wasn't able to photograph them as I would have liked.  The rustic modernism of the home really speaks to me.  She and her husband did an amazing job.

The first things I bought from her were the amazing pillows you see in the white bamboo chairs below.  They are moved around my home from room to room on a regular basis.

I gave a couple of these pillows to friends as a wedding gift.

Also, I just got the pillow pictured below.  I am crazy about it.  It goes perfectly in my little random, shabby chic and modern western second guest room.

How insane is that?  It may be my most favorite thing I have bought, ever.

Sarah's bread and butter is her jewelry.  Like her home, her jewelry is the perfect blend of edgy modernism and rustic glam.  Which is right up my alley.

I have a pair of these fantastic tassel earrings.  I got the long length in black.  They work at the ranch as well as out on the town with a pair of black leather pants and heels.

I got these fantastic white opal earrings on Saturday...

I want these...

And these in blue...

So sick!

My pictures are horrible so check out her jewelry here and her home store here. If you see something in my pictures that you want and you can't find it on ETSY let me know and I will put you in touch with her.  It may be part of her upcoming holiday collection.

Thank you to the lovely L for leaving your babies with your hubby and joining me...

It was a fantastic night...plus I got to wear my new boots...

Sarah Briggs tassel earrings, Prada boots, H&M dress, The Gap Jacket, Anne Klein watch, Banana Republic clutch, Vintage bracelet

Don't forget to tune back in later for the Houzz reveal.

Twitterpated over all the loveliness,

Date Night at the Mavs game

Did anyone else read this post by Sarah about struggling with weight gain??  It has inspired me to get my ass in gear even before the Holidays hit.  I will try to beat the New Year's Get in Shape Resolution Curse by starting a few weeks early.  Hopefully blogging about it will help keep me on track!

Last night, the Fella and I went to the Mavs game.  His boss offered him his fourth row tickets so we couldn't turn them down.  Those seats have ruined future sporting events for me.

And look at my honey, Dirk.  God I love him.

It was a pretty cruddy game until the fourth quarter but we had a good time and it was fun to do something on a weeknight which we rarely do together.  Plus, I got to wear my new top and necklace...

Have a fantastic Tuesday,

Skipping Thanksgiving....kind of.

Good morning my loves!

Did anyone else get a jump on Christmas decor this weekend? Since we are leaving town for Thanksgiving, I decided to forgo fall decor.  And so, we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather, 80 degrees, in Dallas this weekend and implement phase one of our outdoor lights.

We will be adding more next weekend but for now, the hard part is done.  I wanted colored lights but I decided to give the fella what he wanted since I wasn't the one who was going to have to do this....

I was a nervous wreck the whole time he was up there. I am afraid of medium heights. Weird, I know. I have no problem being in a tall building or on top of the Eifel Tower or Empire State Building because I know I won’t fall off those. And if I do, I will die on the way down due to heart attack. But I HATE standing on things I could actually fall off and break a bone. Ladders, chairs, tables, roofs. Maybe because my sister pushed me off a chair I was standing on when I was five and I snapped my wrist. Not sure.

Saturday night I went to a fabulous open house that I will tell you more about later this week but here is my friend L posing in a sneak peek.

Look at these pillows I got for three dollars at Target...how cute are they?

That is all I have done to the inside of the house so far.  Not much at all.  The rest of the weekend was spent enjoying the beautiful weather by working outside and heading to the Farmer's Market.

What did you do this weekend?  Did you skip Thanksgiving decorations and go for the gold of Christmas fun?

Fa la la la la, la la, la, la,

10 signs that I am no longer a college athlete

I am linking up with Sarah today for Fan Friday.  This is a link up for sports fans and you can discuss anything sports related.

Because sports consumed the first 23 years of my life, I spent the next 5 years after that avoiding sports without missing them much at all. Over the last two years, I have come around and have been able to become a fan of sports once again.  I don't miss the practices or the games even.  But I do miss my girls and a few other things.  But I am no longer a collegiate athlete and I am totally OK with that.  And here are ten signs that I, for sure, am no longer a collegiate athlete.

1.       My arms don’t look like this anymore.

2.       My sock toes no longer have 42 written on them with a sharpie.....or my sports bras.

4.       I no longer consider baggy basketball shorts, And1 slip-ons and a wife beater an “outfit”.

5.       I no longer have weekly hotel dance parties….now it is just like once a year or so…

6.       I live with a boy.

7.       I have to do my own laundry after I work out.

8.       I no longer roll with 10 other baby giraffes on a daily basis. Sad face.

9.       I can no longer eat two appetizers, a salad, an entrée, half of my teammate’s entrée and a dessert without gaining an ounce....hell, I can no longer eat just a salad without gaining an ounce. Oh Gumby's Pizza...how I miss thee...

10. My letter jacket is no longer considered an acceptable winter coat....as I have been told repeatedly.

Any other formers out there?  You know what I am talking about.

Miss you girls...

Tall for no damn reason,
